Hi, was just looking around for some information about Körtinge + Himmeta, and I found your guestbook.

And my Mothers Garndfather were Axel Karlsson...
My Gandfather (Bror)moved to Lillhärad, the farm is called Nedervi, and my uncle (Jörgen) owns it now.

Hi there, all of you Norins!
There are several Swedish families with this name, some from the north, some from the south. I'm related to the same family as Jan Norin (entered here two years ago). We are related to a farm called Nordvдg, west from the town of Kцping, north of Arboga in Vдstmanland. I wasn't born Norin, however, this is my grandmother's maiden name, that I got permission to use some years ago. I am actually related to another branch of the family from Nordvдg and Kцrtinge, Himmeta, called Axelsson. I admired my grandmother Maria Norin (later Maria Karlsson) a lot: she got 12 kids! My grandpa, Axel Karlsson, was engaged politically as well as in the evangelical church in the neighbourhood.

Found this when seeking my father's (Einar Norin, author) name.
His name Norin came from his Father Axel Theodor who was a "torp soldier", having a little "cottage" and defending the envirents (this was in the 1800:s).
The name came from Nordvaeg, the way (road) to(wards) Norway, which was in an union with Sweden 1814-1905. All the
soldiers should have names beginning with Nor (not Nord, which was used somewhere else).
Sweden, Vastmanland (west of Stockholm).

Hi everyone. I am trying to find anyone who may know how to find further family history than I have. My mother is Edla Swaidmark (Svedmark) which my grandfather changed the spelling somewhere along the way. His name was Albin Per Swaidmark. My great grandfather was Eric Person Svedmark. Born Aug 27, 1865 in Stocksbo, Farila, Sweden and married Carolina Anderson born July 19, 1856 from same place. He supposedly took this name from his province but we think he may have been Anders Person. His parents were Anders Olsson born Dec 12, 1819 in Hyttebo, Farila, Sweden and his wife was Kerstin Larsdotter born Apr 15, 1821 same place. Carolina Andersons parents were Anders Monsson (possibly her stepfather) and Her mother was Sigrid Anderson. Anders was born in 1828 in Bjorrjo Farila, Sweden and Sigrid in Hyttebo, etal. Then very confusing to me were Sigrids parents Anders Monsson and Karin Andersdotter Halverson, he from Sorby Husfolk, Farila and she from Hyttebo both born in early 1800's. Then his parents were Mons Anderson and Sired Ersdotter and hers were Anders Halferson and Karin Ersdotter and I don't know where they are from. Probably the same place. Anyway, my great grandfathers papers from when he came to this country show he was from Helsingland. My grandparents are both deceased and even though I have some history as they kept alot of their swedish ties here in America I would really like to know more so, if anyone recognizes any of these names as family, or anything about these areas please contact me.

Hi there! I was born a Norin. My father - Johan Henrik - was born in 1908 in Deviotini in Russia. I'm told that is somewhere near lake Onega. His father - Emil Johan - was Swedish, from Forsa in Hдlsingland. He was born in 1875 and my grandmother - Anna Jegorowna - was born somewhere in Poland in 1988. They had 7 children, Johan Henrik, Eugenia Henrietta, Valdemar Georg, Regina Valeria (all born in Russia before 1917) and Alva, Vera and Anninger born in Forsa.

Emil Johan had two sisters: Johanna Margareta (*1868) and Anna Charlotta (*1872) and three brothers: Axel (*1877), Carl Teodor (*1882) and Anders Oskar (*1886).

I'd love to hear from anyone who can tell me more about these people and their descendants. If you're interested - I've come a bit further back in the lineage. And if you've done some research - let's compare notes!

Carl-Henrik Norin was a swedish band leader who tenor played tenor saxophone. Regarded as one of our best soloists and leading a popular jazz band during the 1950s.
He was born in Vдsterеs 1920 and died in Stockholm 1967.
His children Janet an Bo Norin have so far published three records with his recordings, broadcasts and private tapes.

Hi all -- I think there are many more Norins in Sweden, as a percentage of the population, than there are in any other country, don't you agree? Possibly, Norins of other nationalities such as Russia or the U.S. of A. have their roots in Sweden, particularly in the northern parts of the country where "Norin" names are quite common.

My great grandfather, Pe(h?)r Norin - born 1834, took the name when he moved from Oppmanna in Scania in the South to Helsingland for a job as a school teacher. Obviously because the name was common, and in those days there were no problems to choose a name even if it was already taken. My father, OLOF Torsten NORIN, b. 1906 in Rogsta, Helsingland, had an older brother JOHN, who emigrated to the U.S., probably after the first W.W. I think he died there after only a few years, possible without leaving any descendant(s), but there I'm not certain.
My other uncles were ERIK, AXEL and CARL (later adopted "BruОr") and two aunts, ELVIRA (married "Sterner") and BERTA (married "Oestroem"/ Ostrom with two dots on the "O's") My grandmothers name was ERIKA, and her husband's (my grandfather, of whose year of birth I am not aware of, could be in the 1870') name was also PER, I think (but not certain).

ANYONE that could elucidate on these facts??
